The president and general manager of the Maple Leafs feared losing his long-time lieutenant Dave Nonis to one of the summer GM vacancies around the NHL, so he restructured Nonis' contract as senior vice president for another two years, announcing on May 11 that Nonis would stay through 2011-12.
